Many corded office desk phones have a built-in, dedicated headset port which is already internally amplified for a Plantronics corded headset. These phones do not need an external amplifier box.

Some older office phones, however, do not have a dedicated headset port. These phones require an external Plantronics amplifier box to connect the headset through the phone's handset receiver port.
